I have a good friend trying to make it as a pilot. he is on regionals right now. Working to build up his hours than go after a major carrier again soon.

He started late. Went into corporate, then worked gate, taught classes to build up hours. He complained on his four trainer flights about inconsistency with the other pilots. He’ll make it. Just late. He is in his 40's now. He’ll be in town this weekend. We are getting beers.

I was 32 when I got my license. Probably lucky there - I thought about turning right briefly, but knew I’d be in for a rough ride. If I had been 10 years younger, I might have done it. Now, at 50, I’m glad I didn’t do it at 32.
